Juvenile Court

Juvenile Court is the State's unique system for dealing with juveniles. The goal is to protect juveniles from society, society from juveniles, and juveniles from themselves. There are three areas of Juvenile Court, and Oxner Law Office offers services in all three, as follows:

  • Juvenile Delinquency: When a Petition is filed against a juvenile for committing an offense which would be considered a crime if committed by any person.
  • Children in Need of Supervisions (CHINS): When a Petition is filed against a juvenile for committing an offense which is only an offense due to the juvenile's age. Ex. Truancy, Underage Consumption of Alcohol.
  • Abuse & Neglect: When a Petition is filed in the interest of a child who is believed to be in an environment injurious to their person due to the abuse or neglect perpetrated by a parent or guardian.
